Envision a picture-perfect, pale-pink rose with thirty pristine petals, each painted with one stroke of blush on top and two strokes of rose confetti underneath. Complemented by emerald-green foliage and a traditional sweet fragrance of citrus and spice, this rose does not have to remain in your dreams; Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose, otherwise known as Rosa ‘Bewitched’, is in fact, a reality. A fast-growing perennial shrub, this plant profusely produces large blooms, five inches in width, during the spring, summer, and fall months. Reaching a maximum height of 5 feet and a width of 4 feet, you do not need to limit your imagination any longer to one rose; instead, you can expect to see many throughout the year save, of course, the winter months.
Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose’s established damask fragrance, more vibrant in the morning hours than later, is a mélange of lemony and balsamy notes with a touch of honey. A mid-sized bushy perennial, native to France, this striking cultivar yields numerous long-stem blooms, ideal for cut-flower arranging. This award-winning cultivar requires average maintenance in order to produce the most beautiful blooms. If given moderate amounts of love and attention, this upright perennial will gift you with sheer perfection for months and months.
Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose Care
Plant Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose in a hole or a pot that is about double the size of the root ball. Hybrid tea roses are legendary water lovers; they thrive when provided one to two inches weekly. They are also typically hungry eaters, requiring meals once every one to two weeks until signs of frost appear. Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose is no different; this perennial follows a similar watering and feeding schedule. To encourage growth, better blooms, and to avert disease, give this bloomer rich soil that is slightly acidic with a pH of 6.0 to 6.5 and also at least four hours of bright direct or indirect light. Hybrid teas don’t care much for afternoon sun so focus on giving this shrub hours of morning sun.
During the early spring, prune any dead/damaged canes. Also, trim Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose at this time with shape, symmetry, sunlight, and aeration in mind, ultimately leaving four or five principal canes growing outward like rays from a vertex. Later, during the spring, summer, and fall months, deadhead spent flowers in order to encourage bigger and better blooms. Locate a dead flower and run your gloved fingers down the stem until you find a node with five leaflets and then cut. As always with any perennial, trim dead leaves and damaged canes as necessary throughout the growing and blooming season.
Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose Spacing
Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose can be grown as a specimen, in groups, or as a border. If grown in a container, choose a pot that is at least 20 inches x 14 inches. With respect to border and group plantings, plant these shrubs 3 feet apart in a hedge and 5 feet apart in a group.
