Lavender plants are utility players that add height, long-lived flowers, and fragrance to a space. The Blue English Lavender Collection ticks all these boxes and provides a curated assortment of plants that look absolutely lovely together. The Blue English Lavender Collection includes a Lavandula angustifolia 'Annet,' 'Presto Blue,' and 'SuperBlue.' This assortment of Lavender plants bloom from late spring through fall. Tiny purplish-blue flowers bloom along the ends of tall, upright stems. Silvery-green foliage coordinates with the blooms.
These plants have a mounded growth habit for a full and dense look. Include these plants in a mixed bed or border. Create a dazzling mass planting reminiscent of the English countryside, or include them in a butterfly garden. Bees and hummingbirds also enjoy the sweet-smelling blooms. Deer and rabbits leave the plants alone. Remember to trim some stems to include the flowers in an arrangement.
Blue English Lavender Collection Care
Lavender plants are drought tolerant and prefer dry conditions, but they need water during a dry spell to support the bloom cycle. Plant in full sun and in lean soil that promotes drainage. Lavender is not a heavy feeder and does not require fertilizer.
Prune after the first flowering in early summer and again in late summer after the last flush. Do not cut back hard into the woody growth. These trims will encourage better branching and a full form. Trim dead or damaged growth as necessary.
Blue English Lavender Collection Spacing
The Lavandula angustifolia 'Annet' reaches 16 to 18 inches tall and wide. The 'Presto Blue' lavender stands 11 to 13 inches tall and 13 to 15 inches wide. The 'SuperBlue' lavender grows 9 to 12 inches tall and wide. Space plants 9 to 24 inches apart, depending on the variety when creating a mass planting.
