Blue Marvel Salvia packs a punch in a small footprint. Oversized violet-blue flower spikes rise above tidy foliage, delivering big color without taking over your beds or pots. It’s a reliable rebloomer that keeps the show going long after spring.
Plant it where you want instant contrast and constant pollinator traffic. The compact habit stays neat along borders and pathways, and it’s tough enough to shine through heat and light drought with minimal fuss.
Blue Marvel Salvia Care
Provide 6–8+ hours of direct sun daily. Plant in well-drained soil; sandy or loamy mixes are ideal with a pH of about 6.0–7.5. Water new plants regularly for the first few weeks, then water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry; containers may need more frequent checks in summer.
Feed lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer, then supplement with a diluted liquid bloom formula every 4–6 weeks during peak flowering. Deadhead spent spikes or shear the plant back by one-third after a flush to encourage fast rebloom. Hardy in USDA zones 4–9; mulch in late fall in colder regions to protect crowns.
Blue Marvel Salvia Spacing
For a single specimen, allow 12–18 inches of space. For a solid edge or mass planting, set 12 inches on center. Keep at least 10–12 inches back from paths to accommodate flower spikes.
In containers, use a 10–12 inch wide pot with drainage for one plant, or a 14–16 inch pot for mixed designs; place in full sun with good airflow.
