Delightfully full, soft-white petals with bright yellow stamens adorn Bolero™ Rose, a captivating charmer. Bolero™ Rose is exceptionally fragrant, and its scent has been described as a traditional rose with notes of citrus. Each lovely, 3-inch rose has a high petal count–over 100 per rose–and continues to produce beautiful flowers all throughout the summer. This rose truly lives up to the floribunda name!
Grown in Hardiness zones 5-8, Bolero™ Rose is a compact floribunda variety reaching heights of 3-4 ft with a spread of 2-3 ft. The glossy green foliage has a high disease resistance. Bolera is a lovely, fragrant rose to be used lining a walkway, enhancing a foundation planting, or standing as a single, showy specimen in the garden. The delicate white flowers of Bolero™ Rose make a beautiful addition to cut-flower arrangements.
Bolero™ Rose Care
Bolero™ Rose thrives in a full-sun location, receiving at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Plant this shrub in well-draining soil that is amended with garden compost to help feed your rose plant as it becomes established. The ideal soil pH for roses is 6.5, as they prefer neutral to slightly acidic soil. Water newly planted roses every few days, and water established roses once a week or as needed in the heat of summer to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Be sure to water around the root zone, and avoid overhead watering and splashing the foliage to reduce foliar disease.
Pruning Bolero™ Rose can be done in early spring, just when you notice new growth emerging from winter dormancy. Cut back the canes about 15 inches from the soil level; this encourages sturdier growth from the base of the plant. Apply an organic fertilizer formulated for roses three times during the growing season: after initial spring pruning, next when you notice buds forming, and once again in late summer. Deadhead spent flowers throughout the growing season to encourage blooming.
Bolero™ Rose Spacing
Whether planting as a colorful, fragrant hedge, a border for a walkway, a foundation planting, or a single specimen, allow plenty of space surrounding your Bolero™ Rose. To accommodate its eventual mature width of 2-3 feet, space plants 3 feet apart so the branches barely touch; this allows air circulation and sunlight to reach all sides of the rose, promoting a vigorous, well-balanced shape.
