Growing Zones
Gather around this Canadian-bred Campfire Rose to enjoy the beauty and deep, warm shades of these fiery blossoms. Blooms like glowing embers in bicolor tones of yellow and red appear on long stems contrasted against dark, green foliage from spring to frost. The stems are smooth and semi-thornless on a compact shrub with a height of 3 to 4 feet and with a similar spread.
Low maintenance except for deadheading spent flowers and a rather drastic cutback to 12 inches above the soil line each spring which helps to rejuvenate the plant. This rose would make a nice hedge, accent plant in the perennial garden and excellent pot or container planting due to its cold hardiness. Plant in a pot or container at least 24 inches wide by 24 inches deep. This rose is not deer resistant. Winter hardy in zones 3 to 7.
Campfire Rose Care
Like all roses this one is a sun lover and should be given a site with plenty of it. This rose would do best growing in average, friable soil that drains well. An application of either compost or cow manure with peat moss would be beneficial at planting time.
A rose with good disease resistance and winter-hardy to zone 3.They would do well with a protective mulch in winter although it’s not necessary. If planted in a pot or container this rose would do well with minimal care.
Campfire Rose Spacing
Campfire roses do best spaced at least 30 to 36 inches apart, due to their partially spreading form. Wonderful as a mass planting or hedge in the garden and equally at home in a pot or container. An excellent choice for the home gardener!
