Candy Cloud™ Dark Pink Phlox is the choice when you want a saturated, dark pink carpet that looks fully stocked the moment it blooms. Phlox hybrida 'Balcloudarpi' forms a dense, mounded plant that matures at 14–16 inches tall and 14–16 inches wide, then blankets itself in heavy spring flower coverage for a clean, high-impact block of color. Its timing is a practical advantage, too, landing after creeping phlox (Phlox subulata) and before Salvia nemorosa so your border doesn’t drop into a dull stretch. We like it most for shoppers who want one spring perennial that looks “done” without needing perfect garden staging.

The low mound is naturally front-of-border friendly, staying tidy rather than flopping into paths as it fills out. Flower coverage is the headline feature, but the medium green foliage keeps the plant looking composed once bloom is over. Candy Cloud™ varieties are selected for uniform habit and a concentrated spring display, which is why this one is so effective when planted in groups. Use it to edge beds, soften the base of taller perennials, or let it spill slightly over a stone border where the rounded form shows off.

Candy Cloud™ Dark Pink Phlox Care

Grow Candy Cloud™ Dark Pink Phlox in full sun to part sun for the most consistent bloom and the tightest mound. Plant it with the crown level to the surrounding grade and backfill firmly so the roots have good contact with the soil. It performs best in fast-draining, sandy or sandy-loam soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH of 6.0–7.0, and it appreciates a site that doesn’t stay wet after rainfall. After planting, water to settle the root ball, then provide moderate irrigation until you see new growth; after establishment, water when the top couple inches of soil are dry to the touch. Feed once a month during active growth to maintain vigor and keep the mound looking full.

Once the flowers finish, shear the plant back lightly to remove spent blooms and refresh the shape. If the center thickens over time, thin a few stems to open it up and keep airflow moving through the foliage.

Candy Cloud™ Dark Pink Phlox Spacing

Space plants 16–18 inches apart so each mound can expand and still keep clean edges in a border. For containers, start with a 12–14 inch pot for a single plant, or use a wider bowl if you want a broader spring “carpet” effect. Good companions that highlight the dark pink flowers include catmint, sea thrift, and Amsonia.
