  • High 30: Provides the same planting space as Low 30, with added height for entryways and modern interior displays.
  • Low 40: Offers more root space for larger houseplants, outdoor flowers, and ornamental foliage.
  • High 40: Creates an impressive tall planter display for front entrances, patios, and offices, with the same growing space as Low 40.

Best Plants for CANTO Stone

CANTO Stone is versatile enough for a wide variety of plants. Select varieties based on your chosen planter size and growing location.

  • Size 14 - Small Houseplants: Pothos, compact Peperomia, small spider plants, and fittonia.
  • Size 14 - Kitchen Herbs: Basil, parsley, thyme, and other compact herbs.
  • Sizes 30 & 40 - Tropical Plants: Monstera, Philodendron, Dracaena, and compact Ficus varieties.
  • Sizes 30 & 40 - Decorative Foliage: Snake plants, ZZ plants, peace lilies, and appropriately sized ornamental grasses.
  • Outdoor Arrangements: Petunias, geraniums, begonias, and seasonal mixed planters.

Planting Tip: Choose compact plants for CANTO 14 and larger varieties for the 30 and 40 models. The High models have decorative height but do not provide more planting depth than their matching Low versions. Always select plants based on root size, mature growth, sunlight, and watering needs.

How the CANTO Stone 14 Wick System Works

CANTO Stone 14 features a wick irrigation system designed for small potted plants. Instead of completely repotting, you can use a compatible nursery-grown plant with its existing root ball and potting soil. The included wick draws water upward from the reservoir.

  1. Insert the included wick into the growing medium of your compatible nursery plant, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Place the plant into the CANTO Stone 14.
  3. Fill the reservoir according to the water level indicator and monitor moisture based on the plant's needs.

Important: CANTO Stone 14 is designed primarily for compact indoor plants and uses a wick instead of the standard PON drainage-layer system found in larger CANTO planters.

How the Larger CANTO Self-Watering System Works

CANTO Stone 30 and 40 models feature a removable planting liner and LECHUZA's integrated water reservoir system.

  1. Prepare the Planter: Add the included LECHUZA-PON drainage substrate and your preferred growing medium.
  2. Add Your Plant: Position your plant in the removable liner and fill gently around its roots.
  3. Establish the Roots: Water from above during the initial 2-3 weeks while roots establish.
  4. Begin Reservoir Watering: Once established, initially fill the reservoir halfway. If the level drops, follow LECHUZA's instructions for filling to the maximum level.
  5. Allow a Dry Phase: Use the water level indicator and provide appropriate dry periods between watering cycles.

Outdoor Use: For the larger CANTO Stone models, remove the drainage screw so excess rainwater can escape. Watering frequency depends on plant type, weather, and growing conditions.

Complete Your Planter With LECHUZA-PON

The CANTO Stone 30 and 40 planters include LECHUZA-PON mineral substrate for the drainage layer. If you'd like to use mineral substrate throughout the planting area or need more for future repotting, consider LECHUZA-PON Mineral Potting Mix . Its natural blend of pumice, lava, and zeolite helps support drainage, root aeration, and balanced moisture retention.
