- Forged Steel Cape Cod Blade
- Heat-Treated Cutting Surface
- Weather-Resistant Hardwood Handle
- Lifetime Warranty
Cape Cod Weeder with 2 3/4in Edge is the classic pull-weeder that cuts weeds below the surface instead of snapping them off at the crown. The angled blade is designed to work on the pull stroke, letting you slip under the soil line and capture more of the root system than a quick surface scrape. It’s also a handy planting companion for small annuals. This compact tool is one of our favorite weeders for above-ground planters and flower beds.
The build is made for regular use. Forged steel with added heat treatment on the cutting edge helps it hold a working edge in abrasive soils. The contoured hardwood handle is finished to resist weather and feel comfortable in the hand. The narrow tip is especially useful for weeding along stone edges and in cracks where wider tools can’t get a clean bite.

Product Tips
- Use a shallow pull stroke first to “find” the root, then take a second, slightly deeper pull to lift it cleanly.
- In dry soil, water lightly or weed after a rain so roots release more easily and break less.
- For crack weeding, angle the tip down and pull toward you to slice below the crown.
- Touch up the edge occasionally with a file if you work in sandy soils.
- Hang it up after use.
FAQs
What makes the Cape Cod design effective?
The blade angle and pull motion let it slice below the surface, cutting weeds where they’re anchored and loosening soil at the same time.
How to use the Cape Cod Weeder with 2 3/4in Edge?
Set the blade at a low angle, slide it just under the soil surface next to the weed, then pull toward you in a smooth motion to sever roots and lift the plant. For tougher weeds, work from two sides, loosening soil before pulling the weed free. In cracks, drop the tip into the joint and pull to cut the weed off below grade.
Can it be used for planting?
Yes. It works well for loosening soil and opening small pockets for annuals and cell-pack transplants.
Will the blade stay sharp in tough soil?
The forged steel cutting edge is heat treated to hold up well, though any edge will wear faster in sandy or rocky soils and may need occasional touch-up.
What warranty comes with it?
It’s backed by A.M. Leonard’s lifetime warranty program.
