Cape Cod Weeder With Extended Handle makes the classic Cape Cod blade easier to use from a garden scooter, bench, or the edge of a raised bed. The angled, hardened forged steel cutting blade slips under the soil line and severs weeds at the root zone instead of just tearing tops off. An 18-1/2 inch hardwood handle gives you extra reach in tight spots, and the weather-resistant finish holds up to regular outdoor storage. We like it for paver edges and bed borders, because that narrow tip gets into gaps where bulkier tools can’t fit.

This tool works well for quick cultivation passes, opening small planting pockets, and loosening crusted soil around seedlings. The 2-3/4 inch cutting edge is wide enough to move soil efficiently, but still precise when you’re working between plants. In gravel joints or sand-set pavers, it’s also handy for lifting weeds and fluffing the joint material before you sweep it back in.

Product Specs

  • Cutting edge: 2 3/4 inches
  • Blade material: Forged, hardened steel
  • Handle material: Finished hardwood

Product Tips

  • Slice just below the surface in a shallow pass to cut weed stems from their roots.
  • In raised beds, work from the path side and pull loosened weeds toward you for faster cleanup.
  • For pavers, angle the tip down into the joint, loosen the weed, then tamp the gravel or sand back in place.
  • Touch up the cutting edge with a file if you notice it dragging in compacted soil.
  • Wipe the blade clean after use to keep soil from drying on the forged surface.
