Cara Mia is a WOW plant that really stands out in a meadow planting or the Cottage Garden. The fully double blooms seem to last longer than any other flower and always look fresh and inviting. Cara Mia makes a great addition to a cutting garden for long-lived bouquets and dried flower heads. This is a Coneflower that is sterile and does not set seeds.

Coneflowers are famously deer and disease resistant. Not much will keep Cara Mia from looking its best. Low maintenance is a given with this Coneflower. Deadheading is not necessary, but will help to keep the plants blooming. Coneflowers make great additions to a Cottage Garden or a meadow planting. Cara Mia has such an interesting bloom shape that it could work in a modern plan with more architectural plants and solid colors.

Cara Mia™ Yellow Double Coneflower Care

Coneflowers love all of the sun you can give them. Part-day shade, either early or late, works fine also. Well-drained and moist soil will help Cara Mia to establish quickly. Once they are mature, Coneflowers are highly drought tolerant and only need supplemental watering during the hottest and driest of summers.

Fertilizing can be done early in the spring as Cara Mia begins to regrow. A well balanced, slow release fertilizer will support growth all season long. Mulching of the root crown will ensure little damage from the coldest temperatures in winter. Coneflowers rarely need staking, their stems are very sturdy and strong and stand up to even the heaviest burst of rain.

Cara Mia™ Yellow Double Coneflower Spacing

Cara Mia has a mature height of 20-24 inches with a width of 24-36 inches. It performs well when planted in large groups and will require dividing every 3-4 years. Spacing plants at 30 inches on center is recommended.
