Growing Zones
This Heather would be an amazing and different groundcover or walkway planting. An evergreen perennial that will give your garden a different look in every season. Light pink to lavender colored flowers line the stems from late June to August and contrast perfectly against the lime-yellow foliage. Reaching a height of 6 to 12 inches with a spread of 18 to 24 inches, this Heather is sure to quickly fill in any bare spots in the garden.
This is a low maintenance Heather with a spreading habit that is drought tolerant, deer resistant and has few, if any, insect pests or diseases. This Heather would look amazing as mass planting, groundcover, tree underplanting, accent planting in the perennial border and growing in a pot or container. Winter hardy in zone 5 to 8, any plants grown in pots or containers would need to be moved indoors in areas where the temperature drops below freezing for extended periods of time.
Carnival Scotch Heather Care
Heather prefers a moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soil and does best in full sun or partial shade. Planting in an area with some protection from winter winds is recommended.
Trim Heather after it has flowered to maintain size and shape as well as preventing woody bare spots. Heather grown in pots will need a fertilizer that is formulated just for them and applied according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Carnival Scotch Heather Spacing
Heathers should be spaced at a distance of 18 to 24 inches when planted as a groundcover, en masse, as a pathway or walkway planting and if grown in large containers or pots.
