The white with yellow throat snapdragon-like flowers of Torenia Catalina White Linen really stand out against its bright green foliage. This plant will add color to your garden from spring through your first frost in either sunny or shady environments, plus those in between. This short wishbone flower will grow to between 8 and 16 inches tall with a 4 to 5-inch spread in a mounded growth pattern.
Use Torenia Catalina White Linen in container gardens and flower beds. It makes a lovely ground cover in shady areas. Use it as a filler plant in container gardens. It may begin to trail later in the season depending on how tall it grows. It looks great when used alone, with other color wishbone flowers, or with other annuals. The pretty flowers attract hummingbirds, and the plant is deer resistant. In 2008, Better Homes and Gardens listed it as one of 20 Top New Annuals and Warm-Climate Perennials.
Catalina® White Linen Wishbone Flower Care
In general, this plant is low maintenance. It has average water and fertilizer needs. Deadheading is not necessary for it to continuously produce blossoms. Mix fertilizer or compost into your garden soil before planting and regularly fertilize container-grown plants for the best possible performance.
Torenia Catalina White Linen is typically grown as an annual but is hardy on USDA planting zones 10 and 11. It may survive indoors as a houseplant over the winter because it can tolerate low light conditions.
Catalina® White Linen Wishbone Flower Spacing
Space plants 8 to 10 inches apart in garden beds and 4 to 5 inches apart in pots for a fuller look.
