The blooms attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and pollinators. It is also considered deer resistant. The shrubs are drought and heat tolerant once established. Chicklet™ Orange Tecoma Esperanza needs full sun and is happiest in sandy, well-drained soil. Water it only when the soil gets dry. In the landscape, fertilize in early spring as the plant breaks dormancy, using a slow-release fertilizer formulated for trees and shrubs.

The bushes bloom on new wood, so prune in early spring before the plant breaks dormancy and starts to leaf out. You do not have to deadhead the flowers for continuous blooms.
