Cobalt Dreams Larkspur, botanically known as Delphinium ‘Cobalt Dreams’, features cobalt blue flowers with bright white, contrasting center ‘bees’. The flowers are packed on tall, strong stems, creating a show-stopping, architectural presence in any garden setting. Cobalt Dreams Larkspur was bred to have exceptional form, sturdiness, and flowering with greater tolerance to heat and humidity. Plant these stately, tall, blue beauties as a single specimen or en masse for a unique, eye-catching display.
Cobalt Dreams Larkspur has exceptional cold tolerance and is grown in Hardiness Zones 3-8, reaching heights of 4-6 ft and spreads of 18-24 inches. This deer- and rabbit-resistant perennial is bee friendly and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Use Cobalt Dreams Larkspur in many ways, including as a tall focal point in garden beds and in mass plantings, for a stunning effect.
Cobalt Dreams Larkspur Care
Larkspur thrives in full sun and in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Water regularly, particularly in the heat of the summer, to keep the soil evenly moist. Because of its mature height of 4-6 ft., it may be necessary to stake it when in full bloom. Deadheading to remove spent flowers will promote and extend blooming.
To promote healthy, sturdy growth, prune Larkspur back to one-third its size in early spring. Cobalt Dreams Larkspur can be divided and transplanted either in the spring or fall. Apply a layer of organic mulch around the root zone in winter to protect it from harsh freezing weather; reapply a thin layer in spring to retain soil moisture and suppress any weeds.
Cobalt Dreams Larkspur Spacing
When planting in mass groupings, space Cobalt Dreams Larkspur 2 ft or more apart, measured center on center, to allow for its mature width.
