Cocktail™ Banana Daiquiri Geum, Geum ‘Banana Daiquiri’ Cocktail Series, or Banana Daiquiri Avens is a long-blooming perennial with 1-inch, roselike, semi-double, banana-yellow blooms beginning in spring and lasting until late summer. Perched atop wiry green stems that grow to a height of 12 to 18 inches, the luscious flowers of this stunning Geum will keep your landscape cheery all season long. The Geum Cocktail™ is semi-evergreen, and the leaves are divided into many leaflets, forming a handsome, vivid-green mound at the base of the plant that has a spread from 12 to 15 inches.
One of the vigorous Cocktails™ series, grown by Intrinsic Perennials, Banana Daiquiri Geum is a compact, hardy grower with showy, ruffled flowers. Native to Asia, New Zealand, and Africa, the Cocktail™ Banana Daiquiri Geum attracts veritable kaleidoscopes of butterflies and is deer and rabbit resistant. They are excellent as cut flowers and add a sprig of cheery yellow to any bouquet or arrangement.
Cocktail™ Banana Daiquiri Geum Care
Cocktail™ Banana Daiquiri Geum should be planted in full sun to dappled shade. In hotter climates, some shade is necessary. Geum prefers moist soil that is well-drained, as soil that is too wet can be fatal to the plant. They should receive regular watering. You should deadhead the spent flowers of your geum regularly to encourage long-term reblooming.
Cocktail™ Banana Daiquiri Geum Spacing
Cocktail™ Banana Daiquiri Geum looks excellent when planted en masse. It works well along borders and can be grown in containers as a thriller or a filler. They should be planted 12 to 15 inches apart. They are perfect as an attractive groundcover.
