The Conversation Piece Azalea is just that and will undoubtedly become a centerpiece of a landscape. The Rhododendron x Robin Hill 'Conversation Piece' has stunning 4-inch wide flowers. The trumpet-shaped flowers bloom in shades of white, pink, and red. Each flower is a single color, but a single shrub can produce flowers in all three colors simultaneously. What makes this shrub even more impressive is that it reblooms. Enjoy springtime flowers and additional blooms throughout the growing season. Green ovate foliage gives the shrub a full appearance.
Use this unique Azalea as a foundation planting or flowering hedge to define a property line or outdoor entertainment space. Include this medium-sized bush in a mixed bed where it will provide a lovely backdrop for perennials. Grow the Conversation Piece Azalea in a container to display on a deck or patio.
Conversation Piece Azalea Care
Plant Conversation Piece Azalea in full sun or partial shade, although full sun will support more blooms. This azalea prefers fertile, acidic, moist, and well-drained soil. Young plants need regular water, while established plants can go longer between watering sessions. Increase watering during a dry period or apply a thick layer of mulch to retain moisture and protect the shallow roots from warm temperatures. Fertilize using a balanced plant food or a product intended for acid-loving plants.
Shape the shrub as needed after the first flowers fade in the spring. Remove crossed branches and uneven growth to create a more pleasing and open form.
Conversation Piece Azalea Spacing
The Conversation Piece Azalea reaches 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Space shrubs 2 to 3 feet apart to create a hedge. One shrub can grow in an 18-inch wide container.
