Flower Carpet® Roses have become the “Go to” shrub for planting in areas that are notoriously difficult to maintain. Alongside a sidewalk on a busy street, on a steep sunny slope, near busy patio and deck areas, or next to a driveway. This ground cover Rose performs superbly in all of these spots. Coral Flower Carpet® Rose is another addition to this hardworking group of shrubs. The peachy- orange flowers are single petaled and are a great contrast to the fluffier double petaled Roses.
Coral Flower Carpet® Rose is very hardy for the cooler range of the hardiness zones. It also has great pest and disease resistance and rarely is affected by Black-Spot or other fungal diseases. Coral Flower Carpet® provides a dense mat of branches and leaves to smother out the most difficult weed problems. It can also be grown in hanging baskets for long blooming color or on a trellis to add height in a small garden space.
Coral Flower Carpet® Rose Care
Coral Flower Carpet® Rose will tolerate a wider range of growing conditions. Full sun to part shade is fine. Shade later in the day in the hotter zones will help keep the blooms from fading. Well drained soil is great. Watering should be consistent while the plants establish themselves the first two years. The use of soaker hoses or drip irrigation is best to keep the leaves as dry as possible. Soil pH is not an issue. Anything from slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soil will work.
Fertilizing of this rose is best done at the beginning of the spring as new growth emerges.A well balanced, slow release feed is recommended. Pruning can be done any time of the year to rejuvenate this groundcover. Cutting the shrub down by half is recommended to keep it today and compact. Coral Floral Carpet® Rose will regrow from a hard pruning quickly and recover by the end of summer easily, sporting new blooms for the fall.
Coral Flower Carpet® Rose Spacing
Coral Flower Carpet® Rose has a height of 1-2 feet and a width of 5-6 feet. Spacing when planted as a groundcover is recommended at 5feet on center. This will ensure a quick dense cover that is easy to maintain. Planting in hanging baskets with a diameter of at least 16 inches will ensure this rose has enough room to last more than one year. Consistent watering will also be needed when planted in containers.
