The bicolor blooms of the ornate Dalaya® Purple+White Dahlia are certainly a show-stopper. Blooming all season long into the fall, the Dahlia x Dalaya® Purple+White develops stunning flowers with purple petals that fade to white at the tips. For added convenience, this plant remains compact at a maximum height of 12 to 16 inches. 

Native to parts of Mexico, this Dahlia x Dalaya® Purple+White is frost tender and hardy in zones 10 to 12. It forms an upright habit of multiple branches and dark green foliage, which set off the flowers above. This beauty is perfect for growing in containers and using as a cut flower. 

Dalaya® Purple+White Dahlia Care

The Dalaya® Purple+White Dahlia grows best when it is given full sun. It can cope with some  shade but too much may reduce flowering. It prefers rich and fertile soil that is well-drained. Fertilize with a potassium-rich liquid feed applied every two weeks from when the first blooms open. Irrigate frequently, letting the soil dry out in between waterings. Good drainage is key to preventing the tubers from rotting.

Regular deadheading will encourage this dahlia to bloom right up until the first frost. Lift or mulch plants to provide winter protection.

Dalaya® Purple+White Dahlia Spacing

The Dalaya® Purple+White Dahlia tends to grow to 12 to 16 inches tall and 12 to 14 inches wide. When growing as a group, you can plant this dahlia at a spacing of 12 to 14 inches apart.
