Trailing stems and showy flowers make the Dark Purple EnduraScape™ Verbena a charming addition to a landscape. The Verbena peruviana ‘Balendurp’ boasts star-shaped flowers with a deep purple hue and notched petals. The showy flowers bloom from late spring until mid-fall. The light green leaves are offset by dark green veining and have gently scalloped margins.
This Verbena has trailing stems that will spill over the edges of a container or hanging basket or fill a bed or border. Plant several Dark Purple EnduraScape™ Verbena plants for a beautiful swath of color. Dark Purple EnduraScape™ Verbena is disease resistant for peace of mind and added convenience. Deer largely leave it alone.
Dark Purple EnduraScape™ Verbena Care
Verbenas need full sun and fertile, moist soil with excellent drainage. This plant prefers moist soil and should be watered when the top layer of soil dries out. Water the soil and keep the foliage dry when possible. Apply a balanced fertilizer every four weeks during the spring and summer.
Remove spent flowers to extend the bloom season. The Dark Purple EnduraScape™ Verbena is an herbaceous perennial, so cut all growth to ground level after the first frost.
Dark Purple EnduraScape™ Verbena Spacing
Dark Purple EnduraScape™ Verbena grows 12 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Space plants 15 inches apart to create a dense planting or feature three plants in a 12-inch container.
