The lovely red flowers of the Designer Threads™ Scarlet Ribbons Coreopsis or tickseed add summertime color to a landscape. The daisy-like flowers have broad petals in a deep shade of maroon. The velvety petals surround a bright yellow center, providing a lovely contrast. The Coreopsis verticillata 'Scarlet Ribbons' is a prolific bloomer and is covered in flowers throughout the summer. Narrow green foliage fills in the gaps between blooms and gives the plant a full appearance.
Use this showy Coreopsis in a mass planting or mixed bed. Trim the stems to feature the flowers in an arrangement, and enjoy the blooms up close. The Designer Threads™ Scarlet Ribbons Coreopsis is easy to grow and mildew resistant for added convenience. This perennial is pollinator friendly and supports bees and butterflies. Grow Designer Threads™ Scarlet Ribbons Coreopsis in zones 5 through 9.
Designer Threads™ Scarlet Ribbons Coreopsis Care
Enjoy the most abundant flowers when the Designer Threads™ Scarlet Ribbons Coreopsis is planted in full sun. Use a loamy, well-drained soil with a neutral pH. While this Coreopsis is drought tolerant, regular water during an extended dry period will support the long-lasting flowers. Apply a slow-release fertilizer once in the spring.
Prune Coreopsis in early spring to encourage branching and a full form. Remove faded flowers to promote a long blooming season.
Designer Threads™ Scarlet Ribbons Coreopsis Spacing
Designer Threads™ Scarlet Ribbons Coreopsis grows 16 to 18 inches high and 16 to 20 inches wide. Plant Coreopsis 16 to 20 inches apart for a continuous planting.
