The Domino Barrenwort is a fast-growing perennial that thrives in the shade. The large, delicate white blooms have extended spurs with pink centers. The blooms are on thin stems and almost appear to float above the shrub. Epimedium 'Domino' is a prolific bloomer, and once acclimated, you can expect the plant to be covered in flowers during the spring. The oblong dark green foliages come to a point and feature red mottling for another pop of color.

This plant will look absolutely amazing wherever it is planted, but the Domino Barrenwort looks particularly stunning when used in mass plantings or as a groundcover. Beds and borders are other locations that give this medium-sized plant plenty of opportunities to thrive and add color and style to an outdoor area. The Domino Barrenwort is a perennial in USDA zones 5 through 9, and this plant isn’t a favorite of forging animals, like deer and rabbits.

Domino Barrenwort Care

Plant this shade-loving perennial in an area that experiences full shade. The ideal soil will have dry to medium moisture retention, and it is time to water when the top couple of inches of soil feel dry. Otherwise, the soil should be fertile and have an acidic pH.

This plant may push out another flush or round of flowers with proper care. Propagate the Domino Barrenwort in the fall through division. Trim the foliage back in the late winter or early spring to prepare the plant for new growth and a productive growing season.

Domino Barrenwort Spacing

This shrub will grow 18 to 22 inches tall and spread 24 to 30 inches. Domino Barrenwort plants can be spaced as close as 12 inches apart but leave more space if using the plant as a specimen or focal point.
