Double Coded® Coral Cranberry Coneflower produces bright coral-pink blooms packed with layered centers and broad, horizontal petals that amplify each flower’s size. The plant stays lower and wider than many doubles, reaching 18–20 inches tall and spreading 16–20 inches, making it ideal for the front of sunny borders. Dense rosettes of green foliage support prolific midsummer flowering without looking sparse at the base. We like planting it along walkways where every bloom can be appreciated up close.
As part of the Double Coded® series, it was selected for uniform growth and heavy bud production. It begins blooming in midsummer and continues into late summer with strong repeat performance. Pollinators visit regularly, while deer typically ignore the textured foliage. The sturdy flowers hold up well in fresh arrangements, and dried seedheads provide late-season interest. It thrives in heat and open exposures once established.
Double Coded® Coral Cranberry Coneflower Care
Grow in full sun for the most compact growth and abundant flowering, though part sun is tolerated. It performs best in well-drained soil and adapts to sandy, average, or moderately rich conditions within a pH range of 6.0–7.5. At planting, water deeply and allow the surface to dry slightly before watering again during establishment. Mature plants prefer occasional deep watering rather than frequent shallow irrigation. Routine fertilizing is unnecessary; excessive feeding can reduce flower production.
Cut faded blooms back to a lateral bud to keep new flowers forming. In autumn, leave several seedheads in place for birds and winter structure before cutting stems to the crown in early spring. Avoid piling mulch directly over the center of the plant. Divide only when clumps become overcrowded after several seasons.
Double Coded® Coral Cranberry Coneflower Spacing
Space plants 16–20 inches apart so their branching habit can fill in without crowding. For containers, use a pot at least 16 inches wide to accommodate its spread. Combine with ornamental onion, blue fescue, and upright speedwell for a layered planting that contrasts rounded blooms with vertical accents and cool-toned foliage.
