The double blooms of the DOUBLE DIPPED™ Watermelon Sugar Coneflower are stunning. The pom pom-like flowers emerge as magenta before settling into a medium pink. The inner petals are short and ruffled, while the other petals are long and extend beyond the inner petals. All of the petals have notched ends for a sophisticated look. This Echinacea hybrid blooms from summer through fall.

Pollinators enjoy the lovely flowers. This deer-resistant coneflower is a good addition if you’ve struggled with foraging animals. DOUBLE DIPPED™ Watermelon Sugar Coneflower Care

This charming coneflower can handle some shade but grows best in full sun. Plant it in fertile, moist soil that is well drained. New plants need regular water, but established plants are drought tolerant and only need water during a dry period to support flower growth. Apply a slow-release fertilizer in the spring or a layer of organic mulch.

Remove spent flowers to extend the bloom cycle. Trim growth to ground level in the fall or leave it in place so birds can eat the seeds.
