The Dynamo Red™ Photinia or Photinia glabra 'Parsur' provides year-round interest in a landscape. Elongated, ovate leaves densely grow on upright branches. New foliage is a luxurious burgundy hue and fades to green with age. Red stems provide added color. White flowers bloom in the summer.

Photinia is a low-maintenance plant that makes a spectacular hedge and is tall enough to shield a backyard or pool area. This evergreen shrub will provide year-round privacy for a three-season room or patio in mild climates. Use this shrub for a pop of color in the spring or as a consistent backdrop to a mixed bed. The Dynamo Red™ Photinia is disease resistant and grows in zones 7 through 11.

Dynamo Red™ Photinia Care

Set the Dynamo Red™ Photinia up for success with fertile, moist, and well-drained soil. Plant it in full sun. Depending on rainfall, give the plant about one inch of water weekly. Established plants are drought tolerant but appreciate water during an extended dry period. Fertilize annually each spring.

Dynamo Red™ Photinia has a lovely natural form and rarely needs pruning, although it can be maintained as a standard with a tree-like form. Remove dead or damaged growth at any time, and shape if necessary in late winter when the shrub is dormant.

Dynamo Red™ Photinia Spacing

Dynamo Red™ Photinia grows 8 to 10 feet tall and 5 to 7 feet wide. Space shrubs 5 to 7 feet apart to create a dense, continuous hedge.
