This easy-to-grow perennial blooms in early spring throughout summer with a 10-12-day flowering window in US Hardiness Zones 4-9. This columbine is excellent grown in containers and for cut-flowers in arrangements.
Earlybird™ Yellow Columbine attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees, while deer and rabbits tend to ignore them. This compact, cheerful perennial grows 10-12 inches in height with an 8-10-inch spread.
Earlybird™ï¸ Yellow Columbine Care
Plant Earlybird™ Yellow Columbine in partial or dappled sun, with about 4 to 6 hours of sunlight per day, in rich, well-draining soil. Avoid planting it in a spot where the flowers receive direct sunlight, particularly if you are in a southern location. Keep the soil of newly planted Earlybird™ consistently moist. Fertilize once a month during the growing season with a bloom-boosting, water-soluble fertilizer. Remove spent flowers to encourage further blooming.
Earlybird™ Yellow Columbine is an excellent choice to grow in containers due to its compact size; be sure there are adequate drainage holes in the pot. Earlybird™ becomes more drought tolerant once fully established.
Earlybird™ï¸ Yellow Columbine Spacing
Earlybird™ looks lovely planted at the front edge of a partial shade or woodland garden, and is well suited to cottage gardens. Space plants 10 -12” from each other in groupings for a big impact.
