Like bubbles in a fine Champagne this rose rises to the occasion. A repeat bloomer with apricot tinged buds that open to pure white contrast well against vibrant, dark green foliage. With a height of 3 to 4 feet and a spread of 2 to 3 feet this rose is sure to command attention with its ruffled petals and sweet rose fragrance.
A low maintenance shrub rose grown on its own root-stock, this rose blooms from spring to frost on hardy plants with excellent disease resistance. Own-root roses offer the home grower a hardier, longer lived plant that will stay true to its variety as they are grown from their own root systems and not a graft. Would do well as a hedge, accent plant in the perennial bred, or in a large pot or container at least 24 inches high by 24 inches deep. Winter hardy in zones 4 to 7.
Champagne Wishes Shrub Rose Care
Cold hardy, disease resistant, and heat tolerant this is one of the easiest roses to care for. Plant in full sun in average, well-drained soil. At time of planting, if the soil is deficient, it may be amended with an application of a balanced rose fertilizer.
Water on a regular basis while avoiding to wet the foliage. Cut the plant back to a height of 8 inches in early spring. A light mulching in spring would help to reduce water evaporation and maintain moisture. Deadhead blooms over the season and prune branches in early spring to remove any dead growth.
Champagne Wishes Shrub Rose Spacing
Plant at a distance of 24 to 36 inches to allow for room for ample growth and good air circulation. This rose would do well as a hedge, in a mixed perennial border or in a pot or container large enough to give it protection, minimum of 24 inches deep by 24 inches wide, in winter in areas where temperatures are below freezing for extended periods of time.
