Roses are among the most loved plants, and Easy Elegance Sunrise Sunset Rose will soar to the top of your list. First, this is a low-growing rose that serves as a groundcover; it reaches less than 3 feet high but nearly 4 feet in spread. Plant several together to form a carpet of pink-apricot flowers over deep green leaves. And the flowers are stunning, with multiple petals on a 2-inch bloom.
Easy Elegance means you get all this color from a low-maintenance rose. It’s been bred for disease resistance, avoiding concerns gardeners can have with traditional rose care. With little effort, it blooms from late spring through fall. The rose is hardy in zones 4 through 8, so it is safe to grow in northern regions.
Easy Elegance® Sunrise Sunset Rose Care
Choose a spot in the landscape that gets at least 6 hours of sun a day for your Easy Elegance Rose. Loamy soil that drains well works best, so be sure to add plenty of organic matter (compost) at planting time. Dig a hole about 1.5 times the size of the rose’s container. Gently loosen the roots on the sides and bottom so the root ball is level with the top of the soil. Water it well and keep it consistently moist until it is established.
Water regularly and in the morning, cutting back on watering in August as temperatures begin to cool. You only need to fertilize this rose once in spring when new buds appear, using a balanced all-purpose or rose fertilizer. This rose needs little pruning, and none in the first year, unless there are damaged or dead stems. If you trim for shape, do so in spring before flower buds begin to form. Deadhead spent flowers as they fade.
Easy Elegance® Sunrise Sunset Rose Spacing
Space this low-growing rose at least 2.5 feet from other plants to give it room to grow. If planting several as a grouping for groundcover, space the plants about 2 feet apart.
