Lemon yellow flowers adorn the Easy Elegance Yellow Submarine Rose from late spring through summer. This vigorous “own root” rose (not grown from a graft, for longer life) never seems to run out of lemon yellow flowers. Bred for improved disease resistance, this pretty rose should stay healthy with basic care, living up to its Easy Elegance name.
Cold hardy in northern zones (down to zone 5) but OK in the heat of zone 8, this yellow rose boasts plenty of blooms against its green leaves. Plant it in a group of other summer-flowering plants and watch it stand out, reaching nearly 4 feet high and spreading about 2 to 3 feet wide. Feel free to cut some of the blooms to bring inside and brighten up indoor spaces too.
Easy Elegance Yellow Submarine Rose Care
Give your Easy Elegance Yellow Submarine Rose good soil, with lots of organic matter (like compost) and good drainage. Choose a spot that gets at least 5 or 6 hours of sun a day. Dig a hole at least 1.5 times larger than the container the rose comes in. Add compost or nutrients, loosely tease the roots around the rose, and place it in the center of the hole. Water thoroughly after planting.
Your rose will appreciate just one application of fertilizer each spring; that should be all it needs. Follow the package directions for any all-purpose balanced fertilizer or rose fertilizer. Roses like the soil moist but not soggy, so be sure the soil drains between waterings. Soak them deeply and less often for best results, watering in the morning when possible. Prune back any dead branches or the oldest ones in spring. Remove blooms as they fade to encourage more flowering.
Easy Elegance Yellow Submarine Rose Spacing
Roses need air circulation, so avoid planting them too close to one another or to other plants. Space your Easy Elegance roses at least 3 feet apart to give them room to grow and breathe.
