The Summer Crush hydrangea is a new addition to the Endless Summer Hydrangea lineup. This mophead hydrangea is sure to be one of the hottest hydrangeas on the markets. This bush has large raspberry-colored flowers held upright by strong stems.
The botanical name is Hydrangea macrophylla 'Bailmacfive' PPAF and is a cross between Hydrangea macrophylla 'Hot Red' & ‘PIIHM-II’ . This hydrangea will bloom on new & old wood. It's a compact hydrangea blooms all summer long. The large, 3.5”-5” blooms are pink or purple, depending on soil pH. Dark green foliage takes on a burgundy-red color in the fall.
Endless Summer Summer Crush Hydrangea Care
For zones 4 and 5, plant this hydrangea in a sheltered location and mulch during the winter. Plant in well-drained, moist soil. Prune out winter-damaged stems in late winter or early spring. Fertilize in early spring with an acidic fertilizer if blue blooms are desired. This shrub is deal as an accent plant or part of a mixed border.
