Rosa ‘Europeana’ features lush, dark bronze-green foliage with large clusters of double, crimson-red blooms with 25-30 petals on each fragrant flower. The flowers are long lasting and perform exceptionally well, even in the heat of summer. A profusion of dark crimson-red flowers start in spring and continually bloom all season to fall. This fragrant floribunda was an All-America Rose Selections winner. Europeana® Rose is a prolific bloomer and an outstanding garden performer.
Europeana® Rose reaches 3 ft tall and wide and develops a rounded shape. It is cold hardy in zones 4-9. This attractive, colorful rose is a magnet for butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and other important pollinators
Europeana® Rose Care
Plant Europeana® in full sun with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Europeana® Rose grows best in well-draining, rich loam soil with plenty of organic matter added such as garden compost to improve soil texture and add valuable nutrients. Adding a light layer of natural mulch will help maintain soil moisture and insulate the roots. Europeana® Rose likes a soil pH range from 5.5 to 7.5. Water the soil, focusing water on the root zone. Avoid overhead watering, which can splash the foliage and foster fungal issues.
To encourage good root development in young, newly planted roses, add a slow-release fertilizer that has higher amounts of phosphorus. Take a visual assessment of more mature plants throughout the growing season; if necessary, apply a bloom-boosting fertilizer early in the season that is specifically formulated for roses and bud production. Prune if you notice old, damaged, or dead wood, and remove interior canes to increase airflow, sunlight, and blooming. This clean-up will rejuvenate new growth and increase flower production, and can be done in very early spring.
Europeana® Rose Spacing
Plant this rose individually to enjoy as a specimen in a cottage, mixed border, or a rock garden. Europeana® Rose is a fantastic low-growing flowering hedge. Space plants 2.5 - 3 ft apart to allow adequate air circulation and sunlight, limiting foliar disease.
