- USDA Hardiness Zones 8-11
- Height 1-2 Feet Tall
- Spread 1-2 Feet Wide
Ever Sapphire Agapanthus is much tougher than its deep blue flowers reveal. This agapanthus hybrid grows quickly, flowers all summer and can handle stretches of drought once mature. The bright blue flowers rise above a mound of blade-like foliage that stays green through winter. And when the flowers appear, they give any container or landscape a burst of unique, cool blue on an otherwise hot day.
Butterflies and birds land on the large flowers of Ever Sapphire Agapanthus and deer tend to avoid the plants. At only about 2 feet tall and wide, Ever Sapphire is a bright thriller for containers or an excellent low border or groundcover when you place several together. The hybrid is bred to withstand disease and other problems and to rebloom. It can handle the heat of zones 8 through 11.
Ever Sapphire Agapanthus Care
Ever Sapphire Agapanthus also is flexible for landscape use because of its compact size and the fact it does well in sun or partial sun. Place the bulb root about an inch below the soil or container mix surface after watering the planting hole. Water again and regularly until the plant is established. After that, it will grow rapidly and need little care. Give it a moderate-feeding fertilizer in spring and add some mulch for protection. Just prune the flowers stems after the blooms fade.
Ever Sapphire Agapanthus Spacing
The stunning color of Ever Sapphire Agapanthus will look gorgeous in the front or center of a container with contrasting colors. Or plant an entire row or group of these plants for a blue explosion, placing them 1 to 2 feet apart.
