Everlast™ White Dianthus holds fragrant white blooms for far longer than most dianthus and blooms again in fall after its first heavy run. This compact perennial reaches about 8 to 12 inches tall and 10 to 14 inches wide, making it a strong fit for edging, small borders, and mixed containers where every inch counts. Dianthus interspecific 'KLEDG24556' stands apart from older pinks by blooming across multiple seasons instead of giving one quick show and fading into the background. We have seen this one hold up especially well in exposed spots where other dianthus can look tired by midsummer.
This Everlast™ selection has a neat, mounded habit covered in evergreen foliage in all but the coldest winters. This selection also handles heat, rough weather, and coastal conditions better than many classic dianthus, which gives it a longer working season in the landscape. Use it to edge sunny paths, brighten the front of a perennial bed, or fill low bowls and patio planters where the spicy fragrance can be noticed up close. The white flowers also mix easily with stronger colors, so it is a useful plant when a planting needs a calmer note without losing bloom time.
Everlast™ White Pinks Dianthus Care
Grow Everlast™ White Dianthus in full sun in loose, sandy to average soil with an alkaline to neutral pH. Sharp drainage is important, especially in winter, since dianthus crowns can decline in wet ground. Choose a spot where water moves through the soil easily rather than lingering around the roots.
Water deeply when the top layer of soil feels dry, and let the soil breathe before watering again. Established plants need only moderate moisture, and overly damp conditions can shorten the life of the foliage and crown. A light feeding in spring is often enough in the ground; however, container plants can be fed more regularly during active bloom.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage new buds, and shear off old bloom stems with up to one-third of the foliage after a major flush to freshen the mound. That trim helps the plant reset for another round of flowers later in the season. Divide every couple of years in spring if the center begins to thin or the clump spreads beyond its best shape.
Everlast™ White Pinks Dianthus Spacing
Space plants 12 to 14 inches apart so the mounds can fill in without trapping excess moisture between them. For containers, use a pot at least 12 to 14 inches wide for one plant, or step up in size when combining it with other sun-loving companions. In the landscape, pair Everlast™ White Dianthus with coneflower and sedum for a long-running planting that stays tidy and handles bright, open sites well. In containers, fan flower and marigolds make a smart match, bringing trailing and upright contrast while staying comfortable in the same sunny conditions.
