Fantasiatic Lilies are made for growing in containers. The upright, deep crimson-colored flowers have exceptionally sturdy and compact stems that require no support. The flowers of fantasiatic Raspberry Lily are long-lasting both in the garden and in cut-flower arrangements. The deep green foliage is the perfect backdrop for this dramatically colored hybrid Asian Lily. Grow it as a specimen plant or as part of a seasonal display with other early summer-blooming annuals and perennials.
Raspberry Fantasiatic Lily is the ultimate low-maintenance and high-drama plant. It will charm new gardeners and hobbyists alike with its easy care and bold color. Plant it as the thriller in a container with petunias or calibrachoas in contrasting or complementary hues. Fantasiatic Lilies also work well at the front of a garden border to add a shot of color where early season perennials have gone dormant for the summer. Fantasiatic Raspberry Lily is both deer resistant and cold hardy down to zone 3.
Fantasiatic Raspberry Lily Care
A location in full sun and with fertile, well-draining soil is ideal for growing this Raspberry Lily. In the garden, mulch yearly with organic compost to keep the soil rich and moisture retentive. Use an all-purpose potting mix when planting lilies in a container. Add a slow-release granular fertilizer made for flowering perennials to support healthy growth. Apply a topdressing of bone meal or blooming perennial fertilizer as the first sprouts emerge in the spring.
Consistent watering helps large flowers and sturdy stems to develop, although Asiatic lilies do not tolerate waterlogged soil. Make sure that containers have excellent drainage even during the winter when the plant is dormant.
Fantasiatic Lilies are bred to grow dense foliage and large numbers of flower buds, so no pinching is required. Deadheading spent flower blooms will help to keep the appearance of the plant tidy, but is not necessary to promote extended blooming. When the Lily is finished blooming, only remove the spent flowers and allow the foliage and remaining stems to die back naturally. As with all bulbs, the foliage is what feeds the bulb, building up strength for good growth the following season.
Fantasiatic Raspberry Lily Spacing
Fantasiatic Raspberry Lily reaches an overall height and spread of 10-12 inches, making this one of the most compact lilies available. Space plants 12 inches apart when planting in a garden border. Container-grown plants will need a pot with at least an 8-inch diameter or 1-gallon capacity.
