Fantasy™ ‘Pocahontas’ Anemone is a prolific, long-blooming perennial with deep-green foliage and a compact, mounded form. Double-petaled, pink flowers with yellow centers arise from sturdy flower stalks. The attractive buds arise in late June and bloom from July through September. Fantasy™ Pocahontas Anemone attracts butterflies and other important pollinators. It provides attractive foliage and bright fall color in a low-maintenance package.
'Pocahontas' makes a lovely addition to cut-flower arrangements. It is an easy-to-grow, disease-resistant, compact perennial, hardy in zones 5-9. ‘Pocahontas’ Anemone grows to 15 inches high with an 18-inch spread, and makes a big impact planted in groupings in a mixed border.
Fantasy™ï¸ Pocahontas Anemone Care
Plant this anemone in moist, well-draining soil. It performs best in partial or dappled sun, preferably with morning sun and afternoon shade. Keep the roots moist. Fantasy™ Pocahontas will colonize and spread underground by its roots and also by seed. When cutting for a flower arrangement, cut the flower in bud form in the cool morning, and bring it inside; the flower will open and last for several days in a vase. To stimulate continual bud production, snip off the spent flowering stems at the first junction of leaves.
Feed anemones yearly in the spring with a well-balanced fertilizer; also, lightly top-dress the soil with organic garden compost to add nutrients to the soil. This perennial will also benefit from a monthly feeding with a diluted, balanced, liquid fertilizer during the growing season. Anemones can be pruned back in late fall after the first hard frost. The easiest way to propagate Fantasy™ Pocahontas Anemone is by dividing the plant in spring.
Fantasy™ï¸ Pocahontas Anemone Spacing
Fantasy™ Pocahontas Anemone is lovely in mixed perennial beds and borders, and in coastal, cottage-style, and cutting gardens. Space plants approximately 18 inches apart to allow them to reach their mature spread and receive proper air circulation.
