Feathered Friends™ Rosy Robin Ajuga emerges orange and holds its color without scorching in full sun. It forms a low, 4-inch mat that spreads to 18 inches wide, covered in finely cut leaves. In spring, short spikes of soft pink flowers rise just above the foliage, adding a gentle contrast to the warm tones below. Unlike older ajuga selections that fade or thin out in brighter exposures, this one keeps its color and density through the season.

Bred for improved foliage performance, Rosy Robin stays compact while steadily filling gaps. The evergreen leaves suppress weeds and create a smooth carpet beneath shrubs or along walkways. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms, and deer and rabbits typically leave the foliage alone. It works beautifully in small spaces, edging beds, or spilling slightly over container rims. We choose it for brightening the front of a border where other groundcovers would wash out.

Feathered Friends™ Rosy Robin Ajuga Care

Plant in full sun to partial sun for best foliage color. Choose well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH between 6.0 and 7.0, and avoid heavy, waterlogged conditions. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots, keeping the soil evenly moist but not saturated. Once established, it tolerates short dry spells, though consistent moisture keeps the foliage lush. Apply a light, balanced fertilizer in early spring if growth appears slow.

After flowering, trim back spent bloom spikes to maintain a tidy appearance. If clumps become crowded over time, divide in early spring to refresh vigor. In colder regions, remove any winter-damaged leaves before new growth emerges.

Feathered Friends™ Rosy Robin Ajuga Spacing

Space plants 12–18 inches apart in landscape design to create a continuous groundcover. In sunny borders, combine with yarrow and coreopsis for a layered planting that highlights the warm foliage tones while extending seasonal interest.

For container planting, use at least an 8–10 inch pot for a single Rosy Robin Ajuga, although it performs best in a 12-inch or wider container where it has room to spread and soften the edges. Use it as a trailing edge around taller accents like coral bells or ornamental grasses.
