Heuchera ‘Fire Alarm’ Coral Bells is a stunning colorful cultivar of Coral Bells. Its large, glossy, leathery leaves emerge the brightest warm red in spring that darkens into an even deeper red in the fall. Dainty, pink flowers are held above colorful foliage on wiry stems that appear in summer. Heuchera ‘Fire Alarm’ attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and is often ignored by grazing deer. It is easy to grow, requiring very little maintenance to keep it looking its best.  

Native to North America, this clump-forming, colorful-foliage perennial grows 9 inches tall and 14 inches wide in Hardiness Zones 4-9. This colorful beauty is virtually pest, disease, and maintenance-free. 

Fire Alarm Coral Bells Care

Fire Alarm thrives in partial shade, but will grow in many sunlight conditions. Plant it in well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter; Fire Alarm Coral Bells prefers slightly acidic soil. Fire Alarm Coral Bells will tolerate dry shade once the plant is mature and well established. Trim back foliage in early spring for a fresh flush of new, colorful leaves. Apply a thin layer of mulch in winter to protect the plant's roots. If planted in full sun, the roots should remain consistently moist. 

Fire Alarm Coral Bells is lovely planted in containers due to its compact size. Its colorful foliage is an eye-catching filler in containers. You can divide this perennial every 3-4 years.

Fire Alarm is excellent when used in beds, borders, rock and woodland gardens, and containers. Use it to edge a walkway where it will form neat, colorful, mounded clumps. Space new plants 10-18” apart to ensure ample air circulation.
