Enjoy striking good looks and a sweet flavor with the Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose or Rosa x 'Bozdib023’. Bowl-shaped flowers are a soft pink hue and bloom continuously during the summer. What sets this rose bush apart is that while the petals are lovely, they’re also edible. The soft, thick petals have a mild pear flavor and can be used as an edible garnish or to complement sweet and savory dishes.
The Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose makes a beautiful specimen plant or foundation planting; use it to elevate a mixed bed, border, or low hedge. Trim the stems to display the delicate pink flowers in a vase. Pollinators also enjoy the flowers. This variety is disease resistant for worry-free growing, even in humid climates. Grow the Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose in zones 4 through 8.
Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose Care
The Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose needs full sun for optimal blooming. It grows best in rich, moist, well-drained soil. The soil pH should be neutral or acidic. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Fertilize with a product intended for roses in the spring.
Deadheading is unnecessary, but remove flowers before they fade for use as garnish or in salads and to promote more blooms. The Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose blooms on new wood, so prune in spring to encourage a full form and abundant flowers. Remove no more than one-third of the shrub when pruning.
Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose Spacing
The Flavorette™ Pear'd Rose grows 3 to 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Space shrubs as close as 3 feet apart center on center so air can flow around the foliage.
