Fragrant Bouquet not only has very attractive lime-yellow leaves, but has an extremely fragrant bloom late in the summer that attracts pollinators and hummingbirds like crazy. This host will be a great addition to brighten up even the darkest corner of a shady garden. Planted in the ground or in a pot, Fragrant Bouquet will become a treasured addition to your host collection. A 1998 Hosta of the Year winner.
Hostas are the lowest maintenance of all the herbaceous perennials. They are equally at home in a cottage Garden setting or planted in a container to highlight the modern shape and architecture of the foliage. The blooms on Hosta are an added bonus. Most often being very large and having a scent of some sort. Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies are all frequent visitors to Hostas.
Fragrant Bouquet Hosta Care
Hosta thrive in a damp, shady woodland setting. Well drained soil is necessary to keep the roots healthy, as Hosta does not like to stand in waterlogged soil. A soil pH of acidic to neutral is acceptable. Average loam soil that is well mulched in the fall is ideal.
Fragrant Bouquet only needs minimal upkeep. A quick removal of dead foliage in the late fall will help to keep the crown from rotting in the winter. A feed of slow release fertilizer in the spring as the new foliage appears. Dividing of Hostas is needed every 3-4 years. This ensures that the plants remain vigorous growers. Mulching with organic compost or leaves after transplanting will guarantee that the new plants will survive the winter.
Fragrant Bouquet Hosta Spacing
Hostas come in all sizes, big and small. Fragrant Bouquet is in the middle of the pack. Height of 20-24 inches and a width of 24-30 inches. When planting Hostas in a large group, a spacing of 28 inches on center is recommended. Hostas will thrive in containers for years. A diameter of at least 16inches is recommended.
