Rosa ‘Fragrant Cloud’ Hybrid Tea Rose is a deliciously fragrant shrub that features dark coral orange, 5-6” blooms with 25-30 petals per rose. It’s a well-formed plant, with dark glossy green leaves making a lovely backdrop that complements its abundant coral red-orange flowers.
Fragrant Cloud Hybrid Tea Rose is grown in Hardiness zones 6-10. It is lovely planted as a single specimen in a mixed border, as a fragrant blooming hedge near a walkway, or as a ‘thriller’ in large containers. Fragrant Cloud Hybrid Tea Rose is a continual summer bloomer and grows 3-5 ft tall and 2-3 ft wide. Bring them indoors to enjoy as a cut flower, filling your space with its heavenly scent.
Fragrant Cloud Hybrid Tea Rose Care
Fragrant Cloud Hybrid Tea Roses will bloom their best when placed in a full-sun environment, receiving at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Roses thrive in soil well amended with organic matter; rich sandy loam soil with plenty of garden compost or peat moss is ideal. You can add aged manure or bone meal around the base to help feed the roots and promote a healthy and vigorous plant. The ideal soil pH for roses is 6.5; they prefer neutral to slightly acidic soil. Water newly planted roses every few days, and water established roses once per week or as needed to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Direct water toward the root zone, and avoid watering the foliage to deter foliar diseases.
The best time to prune a Hybrid Tea Roses is in early spring, just when your plant is breaking its winter dormancy. A simple rule is to prune any old, dead, or diseased wood as well as crossing stems. Stems should be the thickness of a pencil to produce and support blooms. Pruning to create a classic vase shape on the interior of the plant helps increase air circulation. Apply a light layer of organic mulch in early winter to protect plants during freeze/thaw cycles.
Fragrant Cloud Hybrid Tea Rose Spacing
Depending on how and where you plant your Fragrant Cloud Hybrid Tea Rose, allow ample space, at least a few feet between your rose and other plants or permanent structures to promote good air circulation, which will deter foliar diseases. Avoid planting it near large trees or shrubs to avoid root and nutrient competition.
