Garden Girls® Dream Girl Phlox showcases large clusters of lavender-pink blooms highlighted by a crisp white eye in midsummer. This upright perennial, scientifically known as Phlox paniculata 'Dream Girl', rises to about 30 to 36 inches tall, creating a strong focal point in flower beds. Its sturdy stems support deep green foliage that remains attractive even during hot, humid conditions. The reliable color display and ease of growth make this a remarkable choice for any sun-drenched landscape.
Native to North America, this tall garden phlox features impressive mildew resistance that helps foliage stay presentable into autumn. Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies are drawn to its nectar-rich flowers. A subtle fragrance, plus the potential for multiple rounds of flowering, add to its allure near patios or walkways. Consider using it in mass plantings, along borders, or in spacious containers for a dynamic summer show.
Garden Girls® Dream Girl Phlox Care
Provide full sun or at least six hours of direct light each day to support abundant flowering. Plant in moist, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH, and amend with organic matter if needed. Maintain a moderate watering schedule, but avoid overhead irrigation to reduce the chance of powdery mildew. Light feeding every other month with a balanced fertilizer encourages steady growth and consistent blooms.
Prune away spent flower clusters to extend the flowering period and maintain a tidy appearance. When growing in containers, choose a pot that accommodates the plant’s root system and includes proper drainage. Mulch around the base of garden-grown phlox in cold climates to protect roots from freezing temperatures. Allow the plant to die back naturally in late fall, then remove dead stems before new spring growth.
Garden Girls® Dream Girl Phlox Spacing
For borders or group plantings, place each phlox 20 to 24 inches apart to allow space for mature width and air circulation. When planting in containers, select one at least 12 inches wide to accommodate root development.
