Bird watchers won’t want to be without at least one Gin Fizz Juniper in their backyard. This special Juniper sets an abundant crop of blue-green berries every summer, attracting local birds and adding a delightful color and texture to the evergreen. A deer-resistant alternative to arborvitae for sunny locations, Gin Fizz Juniper has a natural pyramidal shape and full foliage. This is a very low-maintenance, evergreen that provides year-round interest in zones 4-8.
The upright, pyramidal growth habit and lush texture of Gin Fizz makes it perfect for a variety of landscape uses. They can be grown en masse as a screen for year-round privacy and wind protection. Or, use it as a dramatic focal point in the landscape. It’s also a great hedge choice in sunny, dry areas that are frequently visited by deer.
Gin Fizz® Juniper Care
This is a very low-maintenance landscape addition. You will probably be able to just plant it and forget it once it is established. It requires full sun and very little water to thrive.
Pruning is usually unnecessary, but can be shaped if desired. Be sure to avoid cutting into thick, woody stems, as recovery is slow.
Gin Fizz® Juniper Spacing
Gin Fizz Juniper has the ability to grow as tall as 18’, so it does have the potential to take up quite a bit of space. Give at least 7’ of space when planting, and up to 10’.
