Growing Zones
The bold orange flowers of the Gingersnap Rose or Rosa 'Arosnap' will easily become a focal point in your landscape from late spring into summer. Each flower measures 4 inches wide and has 30 to 35 petals, creating a full bloom. The petals have a slight ruffle for a subtle texture and showy flair. Glossy green foliage with serrated edges gives the shrub a full and lush look.
The bushy growth habit is a lovely addition to a mixed bed or formal garden. Use Gingersnap Rose to create a foundation planting or a low hedge. It also works well to conceal a fence or define different landscape areas. Select a planting location near an area you frequent to enjoy the mild, fruity fragrance. This French native is easy to maintain and grows in zones 6 through 10.
Gingersnap Rose Care
Plant the Gingersnap Rose in full sun and in rich, moist soil with good drainage. Water this rose weekly during blooming. Apply fertilizer monthly to support new growth and abundant blooms.
In late winter, remove crossed branches and overgrowth. Annual trimming maintains a full and bushy form. Plants in the northern reaches of the growing range may need protection from intense winter weather. Wrap the shrub in landscape fabric if grown in a cold, windswept area.
Gingersnap Rose Spacing
At maturity, the Gingersnap Rose stands 3 to 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide. To create a continuous planting, space shrubs 4 feet apart so air can still circulate around the foliage.
