The showy, deep pink blooms of the Girard's Crimson Azalea go on full display in early May. The 2.5-inch flowers have ruffled petals and are complemented by glossy deep green ovate-shaped foliage. This hardy perennial shrub is a dependable bloomer that does well with very little care. Grow this plant as a perennial in USDA zones 5 through 8.
Feature this shrub in borders, low hedges, or use it as a foundation planting. The beautiful blooms make this shrub a wonderful specimen or focal point in a landscape. Girard's Crimson Azalea is native to North America and has a dense and spreading growth habit, so as it settles in, it will fill in and look stunning. Girard's Crimson Azalea Care
Azalea plants need full sun to partial shade. Soil should be rich, acidic, and moist but well-drained. When the top few inches of soil dry out, it will be time to water.
This plant has a rounded and spreading growth habit and naturally maintains a good shape. Trim as needed to help the plant fit the space. In the spring, feed this Azalea using a slow-release fertilizer.
