Girard's Pleasant White Evergreen Azalea offers one of the prettiest contrasts in nature — white flowers against light green leaves. The large single flowers on this pretty azalea are perfect for a "moon garden" when placed near a patio, deck or wherever you might enjoy them most at night. The shrub is smaller than most azaleas, reaching about 2 feet high and 2 to 3 feet wide. So, you can feature it in a container or create a low border or hedge.
There are plenty of ways to use the versatile and compact Girard's Pleasant White Evergreen Azalea in the landscape. Another way to enjoy this plant, which grows best in partial shade, is to plant it in a woodland garden. The white flowers really will pop when mixed among the shadows and dark green undertones. Above all, this azalea dazzles with minimal care, thriving in zones 5 through 8. It reblooms easily and the flowers are fragrant.
Girard's Pleasant White Evergreen Azalea Care
Place Girard's Pleasant White Evergreen Azalea in a partly or mostly sunny spot, preferably facing East for morning sun instead of West. It can also handle filtered sunlight underneath trees. The shrub prefers fertile, partly acidic soil and a layer of mulch to keep roots cool. If the soil is clay-like, make sure it drains well. Remove faded flowers soon after they're done blooming; avoid pruning until after spring flowering. Water your azalea deeply and regularly, especially in its first growing season. Apply a fertilizer with acid after the plant finishes blooming.
Girard's Pleasant White Evergreen Azalea Spacing
Space Girard's Pleasant White Evergreen Azalea shrubs about 2 feet apart to form a low hedge or garden border filled with white flowers.
