Gold Cone Juniper is a beautiful evergreen that will add texture and color to an outdoor space. Awl-shaped foliage is bright golden yellow in the spring and fades into a blue-green for the winter. This shrub has good color retention for a consistent display. Juniperus communis is a tolerant plant that is a slow grower but is also very easy to maintain.
This Juniper has an upright, columnar growth habit with tight and dense foliage. Use this Juniper to create a hedge or privacy screen. The narrow width allows this plant to fit on either side of a main door for a dramatic entrance or between overhead garage doors for a pop of year-round color. Grow this shrub as a perennial in USDA growing zones 5 through 8.
Gold Cone Juniper Care
Plant the Gold Cone Juniper in full sun. This evergreen needs at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. Keep the soil consistently damp, so water when the top few inches of soil become dry. Soil should be moist and well-drained.
Fertilize the Gold Cone Juniper each spring using balanced plant food. This plant naturally maintains a pleasing shape, so pruning is not generally necessary.
Gold Cone Juniper Spacing
This tall upright shrub will be 3 to 5 feet tall and 1 to 3 feet wide. The Gold Cone Juniper can be grown 1 to 2 apart when used to create a hedge.
