There is nothing more enchanting than the timeless beauty of a garden rose. Gold Medal Rose is an incredibly beautiful rose variety with gorgeous peachy-yellow flowers with copper orange tips. These large, 4-inch diameter flowers are showstoppers that bloom from spring to fall. Gold Medal Rose has almost thornless stems that are densely packed with dark green and glossy foliage. Gold Medal Rose makes excellent cut flowers that allow you to bring the beauty of your garden indoors.
The beautiful flowers of Gold Medal Rose give off a mild, fruity fragrance. The plant has a tall and bushy habit that can grow up to 5 - 6 feet tall and 4 - 5 feet wide. Gold Medal rose is perfect for beds, borders, flowering hedges, containers, and mass plantings. Hardy from zone 6 - 10, Gold Medal Rose is heat tolerant and disease resistant.
Gold Medal Rose Care
Gold Medal Rose prefers a location in full sun to part shade. The plant will flower more prolifically in an area that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Gold Medal Rose likes acidic soil that is well drained but moist as well as rich and fertile. Water more frequently while budding and flowering and reduce watering after flowering. Be sure to water at the base of the plant; avoid overhead watering and spraying the leaves to prevent disease. Fertilize several times during the growing season, about two times a month, with liquid fertilizer specific for roses.
Prune plants in the late winter or early spring by removing old canes and dead or diseased wood. Remove thin branches and crossing or rubbing branches, and cut back Gold Medal Rose by no more than 30 to 40 percent. Deadhead spent flowers after blooming to encourage new growth and buds.
Gold Medal Rose Spacing
Allow enough space for a mature width of 4 - 5 feet and height of 5 - 6 feet. Space each plant 5 feet apart for mass plantings.
