Gold Splash® Euonymus will make a big splash of color in your landscape all year. It has big, round, thick leaves with bright gold and green variegation. The variegation does not fade or revert over time, making this shrub a valuable long-term investment. The tiny inconspicuous flowers are followed by showy, yellow fruit and orange seeds in the fall. Combined, these features give Gold Splash® four exciting seasons of interest.
Gold Splash® has a compact mounded shape that maxes out at 2 – 3 feet high. It is evergreen and will display its bright leaves all winter. It is disease resistant and cold hardy down to zone 5. It tolerates a wide range of conditions, including shade and drought. This shrub is terrific for mass plantings to fill in gaps or create a bright hedge. It also fits into tight spaces and can be used for foundation plantings.
Gold Splash® Euonymus Care
This shrub performs best in full sun, but will also keep its gold color in partial shade. It adapts to most soil types, but does not tolerate standing water. It requires medium moisture and should be watered regularly to establish the roots during the first two years after planting. Fertilize in early spring by applying a well-balanced fertilizer formulated for shrubs.
Gold Splash® can be pruned any time of the year The best time for heavy shaping is late fall. Remove any green branches to prevent reversion of the variegation.
Gold Splash® Euonymus Spacing
For planting a hedge or mass groundcover, space these shrubs approximately 3 feet apart on center. These shrubs also grow well in containers and will need a pot at least 24 inches in diameter.
