Do you want a bountiful display of color and life in the garden for late summer? Gold Standard Coreopsis is the perfect choice to celebrate the end of season splendor in your garden. This North American native, botanically known as Coreopsis tripteris, is a vigorous grower that produces tall stalks of cheerful and abundant yellow daisy flowers. Gold Standard Coreopsis is a long bloomer that attracts pollinators and does not fall and flop over like other coreopsis varieties.

Gold Standard Coreopsis has an upright habit that reaches up to 6 feet tall and equally wide. The plant is perennial from zone 3 to 8a. Gold Standard Coreopsis is drought resistant for short-term dry spells and deer resistant. Also known as tickseed, Gold Standard Coreopsis is a great choice for mass plantings and meadow gardens.

Gold Standard Coreopsis Care

This easy-to-grow native thrives in a wide range of soil types but prefers a pH from 5.5 - 6.5. Gold Standard Coreopsis has low water needs and can survive short-term drought conditions. Choose a location with full to part sun to ensure lots of blooms. Gold Standard Coreopsis has low fertilizer needs; feed once a year in early spring with compost or a balanced fertilizer.

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to prolong the blooming period and trigger new growth. Ideally prune back dead growth in early spring, leaving flower stalks to protect crowns over winter. Remove all spent growth in the spring to make room for new foliage. Gold Standard Coreopsis can be split and transplanted in fall or early spring.

Gold Standard Coreopsis Spacing

Position this tall perennial toward the back of a flower bed or perennial border. Plants can be densely planted for mass plantings with a spacing of 3 feet.
