Gold Star® Juniper offers a bright pop of color for the garden. The lovely gold tips will brighten any spot it is planted in. Junipers are best used as either foundation plantings or as a mass planting on a sloping site.
Juniper chinensis is an evergreen shrub that mixes well in different types of gardens. It helps to give form to Asian inspired spaces, Clipped into hedges it suits the formal garden. Brighter colored varieties left to grow into their natural sprawling shape look modern and fresh.
Gold Star® Juniper Care
Juniper is tolerant of a wide range of soil pH, from acid to alkaline. The soil it prefers is well drained but also moist. After being well established, Juniper is very drought tolerant. PLanting this tough evergreen in full sun is the key to keeping the color vivid.
Minimal care is needed after planting Junipers. Any pruning should be kept light, unless a more formal shape is desired. The best time for pruning is the middle of summer. Fertilizing is rarely needed, although a light mulching of organic compost or leaves is appreciated.
Gold Star® Juniper Spacing
Gold Star® Juniper has a height of 2-3 feet and a spreading width of 6-7 feet. In order to give these spreaders enough room, planting should be 7-8 feet apart, center on center. Planted closer together at 4-6 feet on center is desirable when used as a ground cover on a slope.
