This Spirea is known for its spring and fall colors! Its spring leaves are bright and golden and, in the fall,, they turn to a gorgeous yellow. Adding to its beautiful features, is the bright pink flowers that show up in mid-summer. It is easy to care for and the Goldmound Spirea is loved by planters everywhere!
The foliage will make you look twice. The golden leaves appear in the spring and then transform to a bright yellow in the fall. Its bright pink flowers are worth noting and make for a beautiful display in the middle of summer. This beauty that originated in Japan, grows to be two to three feet high and its spread reaches three to four feet. It fits perfectly into your yard as a border plant, or along walkways. It does well in containers and is a favorite focal point plant. It will grow well when mass planted.
Goldmound Spirea Care
The Goldmound Spirea does best when planted in full to part sun. It needs four to six hours of sun per day. Plant in soil that is drained well and moist. It has average water needs. It is tolerant to a range of soils and varying Ph levels. This Spirea will continue to bloom as long as deadheading is done. Mulching should be applied to protect it from winter temperatures. This Spirea should be fertilized in late winter.
Goldmound Spirea Spacing
This shrub should be spaced four to five feet, center on center. Giving enough space helps roots grow well and gives the plant room to grow strong and healthy.
